1.Introduction and Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to Ekene Dili Chukwu (Nig) Ltd ("EDC", "we", "our", or "us"). Founded in 1955 by Chief Augustine Ejikeme Ilodibe, EDC has served as a pioneer and trusted leader in intercity passenger transportation, logistics, cargo handling, and charter services across Nigeria.
By booking a ticket, utilizing our cargo services, entering our terminals, chartering our vehicles, or accessing our website and mobile application, you ("Passenger", "Client", or "User") agree to be bound by these General Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must refrain from using our services.
2.Ticket Booking, Validity, and Boarding
All bookings must be made through our official website, authorized mobile applications, or directly at our designated terminals. Tickets are issued in the passenger's legal name and are strictly non-transferable. Passengers must present a valid form of government-issued identification (National ID, International Passport, Driver's License, or Voter's Card) alongside their ticket or booking reference code during boarding.
Passengers are advised to arrive at the terminal at least thirty (30) minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. Boarding gates close promptly at departure time, and failure to arrive on time may result in forfeiture of the seat without a refund.
3.Cancellations, Rescheduling, and Refunds
We understand that travel plans can change unexpectedly. Requests for ticket cancellations, refunds, or rescheduling must be submitted via our customer support channels or at an EDC terminal at least six (6) hours before the scheduled departure time.
Cancellations made outside the allowable window or missed trips without prior notice will incur a 50% cancellation fee, with the remaining balance credited to the passenger's EDC digital wallet or refunded via the original payment method within fourteen (14) business days. Rescheduling is subject to seat availability and may attract a nominal administrative fee.
4.Passenger Conduct and Prohibited Items
To ensure the safety, comfort, and security of all travelers, strict standards of conduct are enforced across all EDC vehicles and terminals. The consumption of alcoholic beverages, smoking (including e-cigarettes and vaping), and the use of illicit substances are strictly prohibited on board all company vehicles.
Passengers must maintain respectful behavior toward fellow travelers and crew members. EDC reserves the right to refuse boarding or offload any passenger exhibiting unruly, intoxicated, or disruptive behavior, without entitlement to a refund.
The transportation of hazardous materials, firearms, explosives, flammable items, contraband, and illicit drugs is strictly forbidden under Nigerian law. EDC cooperates fully with law enforcement agencies and reserves the right to inspect luggage if security threats are suspected.
5.Luggage, Baggage Allowance, and Cargo Policy
Each passenger is entitled to a standard baggage allowance consisting of one medium-sized suitcase or travel bag and a small personal carry-on, not exceeding a cumulative weight of 10 kilograms. Excess luggage will be weighed and subjected to standard cargo freight charges.
For dedicated logistics and cargo services, all items must be properly packaged, labeled, and declared prior to dispatch. EDC shall not be held liable for fragile items improperly packaged by the sender. Perishable goods, live animals, and hazardous chemicals are subject to special handling guidelines and prior managerial approval.
6.Limitation of Liability and Insurance
EDC operates under comprehensive vehicular and transit insurance policies mandated by Nigerian regulatory authorities. While we maintain rigorous safety standards and strict adherence to highway regulations, EDC shall not be held liable for delays, missed connections, or trip interruptions caused by force majeure events, including acts of God, severe weather conditions, civil unrest, government-imposed road closures, or major vehicular accidents resulting from third-party negligence.
Passengers are encouraged to secure personal travel insurance for high-value personal belongings. EDC's liability for lost or damaged luggage handled through our baggage department is strictly capped in accordance with industry standards unless an explicit declaration of high value and additional insurance was purchased prior to transit.
7.Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or relating to these terms, or the breach, termination, or invalidity thereof, shall be settled amicably through good-faith negotiations between the parties. If an amicable settlement cannot be reached within thirty (30) days, the dispute shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of competent jurisdiction in Anambra State, Nigeria.
